Batman, Rock stars and Stitch

"Im Batman!"
Blimey!..... when did it get to Thursday? Yes, yes, "After Wednesday"... i hear you cry! I think i may have blinked this past week away, or ive been sleepwalking and doing a cracking impression of being consious!

So, this week:

Well, on Monday morning, i was looking at the overall stats for this here blog thingie, and it dawned on me what i'd known for years..... Im Batman!!!!! Well the "picture" the graph shows says i am, so thats good enough for me... so ner! ;p So that was nice! Mind you, i think if i really was Batman, i'd probably make Robin do all the Saving the Day work, while i worked on a new Batsuit.... crocheted from Teflon and Kevlar!

Monday evening was the usual and rather pleasant wine drinking and chatting with the girls.... this week, the mascot joined us and did a very good job in keeping up with us and eventually outdrank us.... and made Itchy Crochets arm go all see through! And then our very lovely friend Helena turned into Stitch y'know, the blue thing from "Lilo and Stitch" ... No really..... all that actually happened..... i have photographic evidence! Ha!... and you thought i was insane!.... its actually my friends who are insane, i just hang around with them to make myself look sane ;p

Oh, i forgot about "Rock star bus passenger!"..... while on the bus on Monday evening...i happened to noticed this young lady..... in a fur coat and SUNGLASSES!!! It was pitch black outside!!!! Yes, yes, i am aware she could've had an eye infection or something similarly medical, but the way she kept "preening" herself, i suspect she was just a poser! lol

As usual, the rest of the week blurred into Mums and Tots groups, doctors visits Mini Hook has this pesky chest infection thats been going round, visits to the haberdashers... with Itchy Crochet (i don't reccomend this activity if you have a nervous disposition... or little patience lol), plenty of hooking and glitter "explosions" with Mini Hook.
"You can't see me!"

This week, i have mostly been making hats, mug cosies thanks to the lovely Emma for reminding me about them ;p and, ooh, i should be making a start on a couple of pairs of mittens tomorrow :)

Finally, i feel i need to remind you about the "Name the Mascot" competition.... There are some great little names coming in for the little guy, but keep them coming and ill open it to a "public" vote on Sunday :)

Mini Hook "tucked" the mascot up with "Fred the Ted"... My very first teddy ;p

And last but not least, don't forget if you're in the North West of England... come along to Warrington Market, Sat 24th Nov, 10am - 4pm For the Craft and gift fair in aid of Macmillan and SANDS.... Please come and say "Hi"...... ill even give you a mini candy cane!

Meet the Mascot!!!!!! (Oh look, there's a competition too!)

Just a quick little post..........

After much thought and many suggestions, i still couldn't think of what to make to become the For Hooks Sake "mascot", So yesterday morning, i just picked up a hook, some black and white yarn, and let the hook decide what the outcome would be!..... This is the result! The second i finished "him", Mini Hook decided to snatch it from the table, cuddle it and run off to tuck it into his bed ;p

Meet "The Mascot"

My little stripey being doesn't have a name yet, so im opening it up to you.......

Competition time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What should i name this little being? Comment below

I'll close the "competition" this time next week (Sun 18th Nov at 8.30pm)
The winning name will be the one i think suits the little guy best.
Prize?.... Ive not decided yet, but it'll be something pretty cool :)

GO!!!!

Black and white stripes and sweety sacks!

Well, i could start this blog by moaning about the weather, or the fact i've had to put small rodents on my feet very fluffy slippers.... they now resemble rodent roadkill so i think its time for a new pair... or time to make some if i get chance. but i'm not going to..... im going to start off by making you all incredibly jealous! hehehe

As you have probably all figured out by now, i have a 2 year old son. Last hallowe'en i made his costume from scratch and was suitably impressed with it not 100%, but 75%... so close enough So was pretty pleased when my son won his first ever costume parade :) *Cue Smug Mummy mode*  After the party which was hosted by a rugby league team that our family has been involved with for more years than i care to remember the costume went away and i thought nothing of it..... until this year!
Very posh chocolate makers, Hotel Chocolat, announced a "Little Horrors" fancy dress competition at the start of October, so i sent them a photo of my baby Beetlejuice, again thinking nothing more of it...... Until i get an email telling me that out of over 400 entries, my little man had won!!!!!!!! So, now for the jealous part...... we won a HUGE hamper of spooky chocolate, which arrived this morning. (Yes, the little man did dive straight in, but swiftly got rationed!
So, that was a happy morning :D :D

After the general giddiness of the morning, this afternoon has be relatively sedate... maybe because Mr Hook has had the afternoon off work. I actually managed to get a fair amount of hooking done, mice (not all today, but still),
Lots of blind mice.. eyes will be on soon

I even managed to make one of my little ideas for the Craft & Gift fair Warrington Retail Market, Sat 24th Nov, 10am - 4pm!!! Yes, i know i said i wasn't going to make any more "stock" but i couldn't resist.
Cute little Santas Stripey Sweety Sacks :D (And yes, they are filled with sweety goodness) They can be put in stockings, hung from trees, or just given as they are.
Anyway, thats enough plugging.... for now! Apart from the cute little Holly brooches ;p

Oh, while i remember, the For Hooks Sake mascot...... id like to take photos of a little crocheted item in various places when i'm out and about, so i'd like YOUR suggestions what it should be.... Please let me know your ideas! It has to be small, simple and quirky.

Right then, im off... for now, i have hats, scarfs, mittens, rockets and roses, white cats, green Hulk, and many other things to be keeping me out of mischief!

Grumble, Grumble, Chocolate Orange

Well i did have a lovely long blog for you.... hilarious it was too but due to a power outage i lost all my *ahem*  hard work! Technology on a Sunday morning = fail :( Ergo you have a slightly grumpy hooker now!

Oh well, ill start again.

This week has gone incredibly fast.... even faster than usual... and has blurred into a haze of Bra partys, first time trick or treating, frenzy style hooking, cold gyms and moldy walls... Oh and many, many chocolate oranges ill explain later.

So, "Bra party"? i hear you say..... you will probably know by now that each and every well nearly every Monday evening, myself and a few other oddly minded hooker/friend types, all invade Chez Itchy Crochet for an evening of hooking, pink plonk, and setting the world to rights in a most amusing ranty fashion.
Well, not this week.... there was a difference. This week, Itchy held a "Bra Spa" party.... meaning a larger number of crazy (and lovely) ladies, munchies, alcohol, and a slightly crazy, vertically challenged lady armed with her "magic" tape measure, and the mission to "correctly" fit us all. And, do you know something..... she much be a bloody witch doctor.... she did magical things with all our bosoms... some more alarming than others and thats a whole other story.

This Hooker shouldn't be left with coloured icing!
Wednesday night, as you know, was "actual" Hallowe'en, and i got to take Mini Hook trick or treating for the first time :D Cue Mummy being a bigger kid than the kids!
We decided that as my parents have lived in their house since the dawn of time.. and most of the neighbours came with the house, that we would let my Mini Hook or sppoky skeleton for the evening knock on the doors of the people we've known for years. After the first house, Mini Hook realized that the cuter he spoke to the sweet bearing neighbours... the more goodies he got.... clever little skeleton ;p
The second we arrived back at my parent house, Mini Hook unceremoniously dumped the contents of his swag bag all over the living room floor, and jumped around going "Hurray, mmmmm, treats" while deciding what he would devour first. Needless to say, a sugar fueled hour followed!

The rest of the week went by in a haze of kids dvds i can now quote the Cars, and Shrek films word for word, giddy Mr Hook as the new wrestling game came out for the xbox, and frenzy hooking.

Saturday... hmm, well as myself and Itchy Crochet are reasonably nice people on a good day anyway ;p we thought we'd do a friend a favour, and have a "stall" at a charity "table top" sale. Hmmmmm...... Thank whatever you class as holy for Thermos flasks!... the gym we were in was colder than the snow queens toenail! (And the walls directly behind us were covered in mold, triggering Itchys OC (O) shes far too organized to have a disorder.
The afternoon resulted in extreme minimal sales, and two slightly grumpy hookers.

So, how does this hooker make light of  grumpy situation?..... well the evening contained much pizza consumption, a bottle of wine, crocheting, Red Dwarf, and... Oooh a Chocolate orange that came back from the sale in the guise of a xmas pud cover i'd made. Very cute too if i do say so myself... there's even a snowman head orange cover..... all of which are avalible on the For Hooks Sake Facebook page *plug plug* or at Warrington Market on Sat 24th Nov.

Well wasnt that an exiting week?! Hmmmm

As todays Sunday, myself and Mini Hook are off to my parents house again, so that Mini hook can run riotous rings around his grandparents and Auntie, and i can sit on the sofa, crocheting and laughing..... and mocking ;p

Ooh, Monday tomorrow........ that means fellow Hookers, lots of pink plonk, nibbles and humorous banter. Hurrah!
